external hard drives gaming image

Hi, i have a 1.5TB external hard drive. My C drive is running out of space, and i find it easier on the whole to use an external hard drive for games. Would it be possible to install and execute sims 3 from an external hard drive, where i can plug the HDD into the laptop anytime when i want to play it?
Answer
Yeah. Might be a bit slower to load files but it will work.

Can you run pc games off external hard drives?

I need more space on my pc for games (empire total war) so im going to buy a 1TB external hard drive if games can work fine off them.
Answer
Sure you can.
However, be ware that the transfer rate of an external hard drive connect to a computer through a usb port is 480 Mbps. So you won't get the fastest data transfer rate that the internal hard drive offer. An internal hard drive connecting to the motherboard using a SATA cable has the average of data transfer rate around 700 Mbps.
But don't worry, it would be fine though. You will probably notice that the game will take a little bit longer to load and save
