Q. Okay so i bought this new hard drive.
the WD caviar blue 320 gigs.
i tried to install it my computer.
i connected the master cable wire wich has that plug in the center of the disk tray drive to the motherboard. i put the power supply cable in it and started up my computer.
but it says theres a error starting up my deasktop due to recent installation
im not sure if i plugged it in wrong, or if theres something else i need to do.
im no computer wiz :P hoping one could help me out.
my spec comp is a compaq presario
AMD tm athlon 64 processor 3200+ 994mhz 960mb of ram (wich ima get more of)
can someone help me please?!

Yes, external hard drives still exist, but what you're looking for is an external DVD drive. Unfortunately, it's still kind of expensive -- $50 plus shipping. You'd be better buying an internal drive and replacing it yourself.
Here's the external drive, which plugs into USB (you can write DVDs with it as well as read them):
