best external hard drive for pro tools 9 image
Q. I'm about to get a hard drive to store all my movies but i want to watch it directly from the tv. Is there such product that i just connect with a cable and watch them....Please help and advise what product i should get ect... thanks

No it is not possible to connect external HDD directly to your TV and watch movies
Don't you know any thing about codecs
They are responsible to read stored movies from your HDD and send it to displayed
You need intermediate Devices to read movie format
There are software and hardware codecs
DivX Pro Codec: A proprietary MPEG-4 ASP codec made by DivX, Inc.
Xvid: Free/open-source implementation of MPEG-4 ASP, originally based on the OpenDivX project.
FFmpeg MPEG-4: Included in the open-source libavcodec codec library, which is used by default for decoding and/or encoding in many open-source video players, frameworks, editors and encoding tools such as MPlayer, VLC, ffdshow or GStreamer. Compatible with other standard MPEG-4 codecs like Xvid or DivX Pro Codec.
3ivx: A commercial MPEG-4 codec created by 3ivx Technologies.
x264: A GPL-licensed implementation of the H.264 encoding standard. x264 is only an encoder.

QuickTime H.264: H.264 implementation released by Apple.

Fix external hard drive?

I was defragging my external hard drive when my pc decided to stop doing anything. the only thing i could do was pulling the plug out. Now isn't there a pc that is able to see it.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
Some people told me to format it, but how do i format it when my pc isn't able to see it?
My pc does have xp pro and ubuntu 9.04
Tried it also on the pc of my dad (win xp media center)

Defrag the hard disk in Windows 2000/XP systems, you can right-click the hard disk, select âPropertiesâ in the dialog box that appears, click âToolsâ tab, click âbegan to organizeâ button in the âDefragmentâ election items group. The system will automatically start defrag.
