The ones i know of are HP, DEll and Acer. Which ones do you find good as in efficiency, price, quality, durability? And what others do you know besides the ones i listed?
I know Dell sucks, i never said it's good.

I usually find this topic amusing... Most companies all use the same basic hardware, though they all have their own model numbers and names.
Their all good, it is mostly on how well the users treat their hardware and maintain it. And at times there are defects with all products. Just like how some people treat their vehicles. Some do not get the same mileage as others. And everyone will have their own preference. The most commonly paid for service/software is for anti-virus. I am also amused by retailers selling "extended" warranties where some hardware is already covered by the manafacturor. Hard drives being the easiest example. A hard drive has a year of manafacture, a serial number, and a model number. If a hard drive fails, a user can remove the drive and look up or call the manafacturor to see if it is still under warranty. If so, they can request a RMA number and send it in for repair or possibly replacement. But most users are taught that their hardware is old within three years on average, though it still serves their purpose just as good as the day they bought it. Just as many are ready to go out and buy the newest released operating system every few years, thinking that it will improve upon what they are already doing.
Thus the durability is a mute point.

Almost all laptops are good desktop replacements now as long as the hard drive and memory are large enough to handle the applications a person likes to use. Dell, HP, and Sony are all good choices. The new notebooks of course do not qualify in that respect.
