Q. I need a laptop for making music and dj'in. money really isn't a problem, neither is the memory since i have a 500gb external hard drive, probably going to be a terabyte later. A lot of djs are using macs but i also found about the Tishiba Qosmio X500, which i hear its a great media laptop. which one will i be better off with? Macbook pro or Qosmio X500?

Answer
They are both good laptops. I don't understand your comment about memory. What does storage have to do with memory? Toshiba are the most reliable laptop made. But that's not counting the Mac's which are much better than the toshiba. Everything being equal I would say in this case you are better off going with the Mac

Other than the obvious stands and PA system, you need a laptop with a program that is compatible for your turntables. You need a mixer to switch between the turntables. headphones are necessary for "DJing," a microphone is not necessary but it is typically used by a dj. You might want a subwoofer but it not necessary especially not for small parties. you could also get an all in one system but those tend to be less reliable. the best advice i can give you is to go to a music store like guitar center and ask one of the sales reps exactly what you need as far as equipment. Also remember if you are using digital and not analog(vinyl) you should make sure that is what your program is designed for. Most DJs that use digital audio have at least one external hard drive for the vast amount of music they had, but you should be fine with one depending on how big your music collection is.
