Hi i bought a new blu ray player Sony bdp s360 i also have a 1tb external usb hard drive that i would like to hook up my blu ray player has a usb in the back but when i hook it up its not detecting it i have a wesern digital 1tb from walmart any help would be great thanks

Nope, you have this all wrong, the USB in the back of your blu-ray player is not for connecting a hard drive, you would connect a USB drive to be used as memory for accessing Blu-Ray movies BD-Live service, which is just an interactive on-line movie experience.
You are going to need to connect an ethernet cable to your player to get firmware updates and to be able to play the BD-Live content..
The guys speaking in CAPS has no clue what you were asking and he should retire from fixing computers...

Help With External Computer Hard Drive? ?

I have a few questions. I want to put some of the information on my laptop onto an external hard drive. The laptop is a Dell, so I figure use a Dell hard drive. But I'm looking at this:

on Ebay, and all it talks about is video, photos, and songs. I mostly have files that I want to move, like Microsoft Word documents and things like that.
So, what is the best hard drive (external) to use for that? Will other hard drives that aren't Dell work with a Dell laptop, or does it have to be the same brand?
Also... I want to move the files onto the external drive and then put them on another laptop. Does it matter what brand the other laptop is?

External Hard drives are essentially bigger revisions of flash thumb drive with several times more capacity - so BRAND DOES NOT MATTER IN TERMS OF COMPATIBILITY. There are also "Sync" programs that will apply any changes you have done to the desired folders in your computer to the files in your drive so that they are identical.
